Our Story
An electrician and painter bought a direct to garment printer and began printing from a bedroom. After a decade of outgrowing several locations, and upgrading machine upon machine, we are still here, still kicking.
Cotton Lab® has developed from 10+ years of experience expanding screen printing technology by staying aligned with industry innovations. We believe in a collaboration to deliver a product that meets the goals of merchants through a scalable process that puts quality first.
To get there, founders Dan Lund and Brett Wilson learned about the art of not only screen printing, but event deadlines, managing staff, and everything in between. There were countless late nights and quite literally, blood, sweat and tears of growing pains that have resulted in the premium screen printing company we have today.
Not long after they bought that DTG printer... they sold that DTG printer... realizing that screen printing was the true future (and long-lived past) of the industry. They drove to Chicago and hauled loads of manual screen printing equipment they purchased down from a 5 story building and into their truck, driving it back to Michigan. They were able to set up their first shop, and got their first few contract customers, marking the true beginning of Extreme Screen Prints®.
These customers helped them grow enough to afford the switch to automatic screen printing in 2010 and move into a new space with two new employees, which came with all of its own new learning curves and possibilities.
It wasn’t long before they were pressed to meet high priority deadlines, and sometimes the only way to ensure your product gets where it belongs... is to go with it. Once--with sweat on his brow--Dan filled 3 suitcases, overstuffed with freshly printed tees in order to make a flight to Dallas for a motocross event client. With no plans and nowhere to go after delivery, the customer invited him to stay, so Dan woke up to breakfast with the client’s family for the weekend before his flight back home.
A few years later they moved into a larger commercial space, with a new press and a new team. Eventually getting 4 more autos, and nearly 40 more employees we have since grown into the space entirely, with plans to build a new home for Extreme and Cotton Lab within the next few years. We invest in our equipment, materials and team so each project runs smoothly. At Cotton Lab you can expect to experience a wide range of garment options as we strive to stay collaborative with our partners to offer the best materials.
We are here to make your vision come to life through the science of screen printing.
